Friday night Janet and I decided it would be fun to go “hiking” on Saturday. So we went to Lick Creek Park (weird name, I know) armed with two bottles of water and some granola bars, and we started walking. The trails were pretty, it wasn’t terribly hot, and we were having fun and talking.

This was our playground:

We walked for a long time.

Saw pretty flutterbys.

We walked along the “Iron Bridge Trail” and this is the “iron bridge.” Go figure. Anyway, we got lost (kinda). It was Janet’s fault, she doesn’t have the natural sense of direction that I myself possess. It’s okay though. I got us back to the parking lot.

But not before I ALMOST FREAKING DIED. I hadn’t eaten much breakfast and only drank one bottle of water, and by the end of all of this I had stopped sweating, which is no bueno.

And we had to trek back through THIS because we took a different trail:

But Janet was a trooper. I? I was a girl. A city girl. Who made her lead so that if there were any snakes, she’d get bitten first. I’m a good friend, aren’t I? Whatever, I’d suck the poison out. Maybe. Bleh. Let’s not think about it.

Finally! The parking lot! By this point it was freakin’ HOT out, and I was DYING. But there’s hope! I love signs that give me hope.

Our shoes! That are still in the bag, on the coffee table, downstairs.
