Rough day today. Hadn’t thought of my dad in a while and I was blindsided today in Linguistics with the details of his hospitalization. Oi. Not that it has ANYTHING at ALL to do with Linguistics. She decided to tell us aaaaalllllll about her best friend who died from stomach cancer. Not that that would bother me. I think cancer is a petty disease that doesn’t deserve to be taboo, but it bothered me that she decided to tell us ALL about it. The tubes, the sickly color, the smells, the nurses, the stark whiteness. Then the details from almost three years ago came rushing back and I could barely stand it, but I couldn’t get up and walk out of a class of almost 200 people (when I sit in the fourth row). So blah. Not the best day in my history, but also not the worst.
